Psychiatric services are available to all students through the UCC with a referral from a UCC or UHS provider. To access these services, students should first complete an initial Drop-in appointment at the UCC.

Referrals for a psychiatric evaluation and medication treatment may be made as the result of a student’s Drop-in appointment, at any point during individual or group counseling, or during a visit with a UHS provider. Psychiatric providers serve in a consulting role and do not serve as the only provider for any student seeking medication services on campus.

Students in off-campus counseling who are not working directly with the UCC can have their psychiatric treatment and medications managed on-campus by calling the UCC at 574-631-7336 and scheduling an appointment with the Behavioral Health Clinical Case Manager.

ADD/ADHD Evaluation and Medication Management

Students who have been diagnosed with ADD/ADHD by an off-campus provider can receive medication management on campus with documentation of the diagnosis and medication history. Students can initiate treatment by coming to a Drop-in appointment. Additionally, students can ask their off-campus provider to fax treatment records directly to the UCC at 574-631-5643. Please note that the UCC does not accept clinical records via email.

New diagnoses of ADD/ADHD require a thorough evaluation and/or psychological testing, which are not currently available on campus. Students who wish to discuss ADD/ADHD can share their concerns with a counselor during a Drop-in appointment. At that time, a counselor may conduct a screening for ADD/ADHD and suggest behavioral strategies to assist with focusing and executive functioning. If through this screening process medication is recommended, students will be referred to an on-campus psychiatric provider.
