The Graduate School provides a subsidy that covers the full cost of the health insurance premium for full-time, fully-funded students and their legal dependents who are enrolled in the University-sponsored student health insurance plan. For information on eligibility criteria and current stipend threshold levels, please refer to this Health Subsidy Eligibility Policy.

Graduate students enrolled in the student health insurance plan are charged through their IRISHPAY account in early July, and those students who are eligible for subsidies will receive fall and spring subsidy credits in their IRISHPAY accounts to cover each half of the cost of their premium.

Due to the student health insurance enrollment confirmation and waiver period, graduate student subsidies are not applied to student accounts until September and February, which means IRISHPAY accounts may show an insurance balance at the beginning of each semester. Please rest assured that the Office of Student Accounts is aware of the subsidy credit and does not expect graduate students to pay for insurance charges prior to the subsidies being applied.

As a reminder, while all students are not required to enroll in the University-sponsored student health insurance plan, all graduate and international students are automatically enrolled in and charged for the plan. Students who do not wish to participate in this plan and have comparable health insurance coverage may submit a request to waive student health insurance.
