In support of the University's Catholic, Holy Cross mission, Student Health and Wellness is committed to promoting the healthy development, well-being, and flourishing of all students, and to cultivating an environment of belonging where all students feel known, heard, valued, and seen.

As a critical component of the holistic education the University hopes to provide and a central dimension of the holistic care Student Health and Wellness strives to deliver, belonging is essential to flourishing at Notre Dame and beyond.

Here, belonging involves both connecting with and accompanying all students, and especially those who may not always feel they are a part of the Notre Dame community. When addressing a student’s well-being, Student Health and Wellness works to acknowledge their individual needs and the complexities of the circumstances that have shaped who they are. This approach not only helps students to process their experiences and improve their overall health, it also aids in strengthening the collective well-being of the entire campus community.

Addressing students’ sense of belonging also benefits from a staff who specialize in subject matter that is of particular importance to college students. Staff working within Student Health and Wellness are trained professionals from a variety of backgrounds whose expertise has been honed by the experiences of the students they serve and whose collective goal is to remain responsive to their evolving needs.
